AI dial: heyprof with and without AI

About this app

A rotary dial shows what runs in heyprof without AI and what AI adds at each level: for teachers when creating, as a tutor with course sources, as feedback and in learning apps. Master switches for organisation and course (the strictest setting applies), a data flow shows trigger, data sent and AI service, and a role switch shows who sets what.

With explain mode: an AI tutor walks you through the app, points out what matters in the scene and answers your questions.

The idea

Many functions of a learning platform need no AI: slides and material, notes on slides, VisuApps, interactive films with pre-generated audio, exercises with model solutions, live quizzes, automatically marked tests and certificates. In heyprof AI is added selectively, and each AI function is switched on separately; none is active in a new course. Two master switches, “AI in this course” and “Without AI” for the whole organisation, set the frame. The strictest setting applies: when AI is off, the server refuses every AI request.

What the app shows

On the left is a rotary dial with five levels, on the right a tower of five levels with feature tiles. Level 0 runs without AI. Level 1 is AI for creating, for teachers (CourseLab, VisuLab, SmartPad), level 2 the AI tutor with course sources, level 3 AI feedback on solutions, handwriting and questions to the film, and level 4 AI in learning apps such as AI conversation and CogniApps. For each call, a data flow shows who triggers it, which data is sent and to which AI service. Where AI assesses, it makes a suggestion; the teacher sets the grade.

Try it yourself

Turn the dial up level by level and watch which tiles light up in the tower. Then switch off the master switch for the course or the organisation and see that only level 0 remains. With the role switch teacher, learners and organisation, each tile shows who sets the function. The data flow at the bottom names the trigger, the data sent and the service for every AI function.

Frequently asked questions

Can a learning platform be used entirely without AI?
In heyprof, yes. Material, notes, VisuApps, interactive films, exercises with model solutions, live quizzes, automatically marked tests and certificates run without AI. No AI function is active in a new course, and the organisation can switch AI off altogether with a master switch.
Who decides whether AI is used in a course?
The teacher switches AI functions on individually per course, and the organisation can switch AI off for all courses. The strictest setting always applies. When AI is off, the server refuses every AI request and no course content goes to an AI provider.
Does the AI give grades?
No. Where AI assesses a solution, for example in feedback or recognised handwriting, it makes a suggestion. The teacher sets the grade.
What does the “AI dial” app show?
Using a rotary dial with five levels, it shows which heyprof functions run without AI and what AI adds. It also includes the master switches for course and organisation, a data flow for each AI call and a role switch that shows who sets what.
