Stellarator — fusion in a twisted magnetic field (3D)
About this app
Toroidal field, tokamak and stellarator compared: without twisted field lines, ions and electrons drift apart and the plasma drifts onto the wall. The stellarator achieves the twist with 50 bent coils alone, without a current in the plasma. Field lines, particle orbits (Boris pusher), Poincaré section with magnetic islands and triple product.
