Splitting Numbers

About this app

Shake box meets number house: 5–10 counters tumble randomly into two trays with every shake, and each new split fills a floor in the number house. Counters can also be dragged or tapped across to hunt down missing floors — a full house earns a star. The big number sentence a + b = n shows with every throw: the parts change, the whole stays the same. This refutes the misconception that a number is just a counting word rather than a decomposable quantity.
