Cochlea — travelling wave and tonotopy (3D)
About this app
The cochlea uncoils: a travelling wave runs along the basilar membrane and peaks at its Greenwood place – high tones at the base, low tones at the apex. Two tones give two peaks, the microphone shows your own voice as a pattern; cross-section with the organ of Corti, age-related hearing loss and noise damage.
