Magic box AI: one spark, six powers
About this app
What can generative AI do today? Around a glowing spark lie six powers: writing, painting, listening and speaking, translating, programming, discovering. A short wish breaks into particles of light and arranges itself into a finished result: a letter, a picture, text, a translation, a small app, a folded protein. For each power one limit and one counter-spell; watch or try it yourself.
With explain mode: an AI tutor walks you through the app, points out what matters in the scene and answers your questions.
What generative AI can do
Generative AI turns a short wish in everyday language into something new: a text, a picture, writing from speech or a voice from writing, a translation or a small program. In research it offers proposals, for example for the shape of proteins or for weather forecasts. The 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry went to David Baker, Demis Hassabis and John Jumper for protein design and protein structure prediction. Each of these abilities has a second side: texts can be wrong, pictures and voices can deceive.
What the app shows
A spark glows in the centre, surrounded by six powers: writing, painting, listening and speaking, translating, programming and discovering. Tap a power and a short wish breaks into particles of light that arrange themselves into a finished result, such as a birthday greeting, a painted picture or a shopping list to tick off. For each power the app shows where caution is needed and a counter-spell: a concrete piece of advice for everyday life.
Try it yourself
In Watch mode the powers play one after another. In Cast it yourself you pick the wish, for example a polite complaint to the property management or asking for the pharmacy in Italian. Then switch to Caution and Counter-spell: listening and speaking is about imitated voices on the phone, programming about bugs in the code, discovering about a prediction not yet being a diagnosis. The app sends nothing to an AI; all transformations are prepared and simplified.
Frequently asked questions
- What is generative AI?
- Generative AI means programs that create new content from an instruction in everyday language: texts, pictures, speech, translations or program code. They learned what such content looks like from a vast number of examples.
- What can I use AI for in everyday life?
- For example letters, applications and greetings, summaries of long texts, dictating and reading aloud, translating on the go, pictures for invitations and small helpers for home or club. Read anything yourself before you pass it on.
- How do I protect myself from calls with an imitated voice?
- Voices can be imitated with AI today. Agree on a code word in your family. If a call is about money, hang up and call back yourself on the number you know.
- Does the app run a real AI?
- No. Wishes and results are prepared and simplified. The app sends no input to an AI service.
