Arithmetic means always plus the same, geometric always times the same. Output, depreciation and compound interest are almost always one of the two sequences.

A Staircase, a Curve, an Old Machine: Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences
An explainer film in five chapters, made from a real lecture: two rows of bars that look like a financial plan but are pure mathematics, the arithmetic sequence as a staircase with equal steps, the geometric sequence with a constant factor, explicit versus recursive (how many sleeps left?) and a machine that loses value straight-line or declining-balance and, declining, never reaches zero. Pause anywhere and ask.
